Psalm 51

For the worship leader. A song of David after Nathan the prophet accused him of infidelity with Bathsheba.

One of the most difficult episodes in King David's life was his affair with Bathsheba and all that resulted from it. Psalm 51 reflects the emotions he felt after Nathan confronted him with stealing Bathsheba and murdering her husband, Uriah (2 Samuel 11-12).

At one time or another, all people experience the painful consequences of sin. Psalm 51 has been a comfort and a help to millions who have prayed these words as their own. It invites all who are broken to come before God and lean upon His compassion. It teaches that we need not only to be forgiven for the wrong we have done, but we also need to be cleansed of its effects on us. Ultimately, it helps us recognize that if we are to be healed, it is the work of God to create in us a heart that is clean and a spirit that is strong.

1 Look on me with a heart of mercy, O God,
according to Your generous love.
According to Your great compassion,
wipe out every consequence of my shameful crimes.

2 Thoroughly wash me, inside and out, of all my crooked deeds.
Cleanse me from my sins.

3 For I am fully aware of all I have done wrong,
and my guilt is there, staring me in the face.

4 It was against You, only You, that I sinned,
for I have done what You say is wrong, right before Your eyes.
So when You speak, You are in the right.
When You judge, Your judgments are pure and true.[a]

5 For I was guilty from the day I was born,
a sinner from the time my mother became pregnant with me.

6 But still, You long to enthrone truth throughout my being;
in unseen places deep within me, You show me wisdom.

7 Cleanse me of my wickedness with hyssop, and I will be clean.
If You wash me, I will be whiter than snow.

8 Help me hear joy and happiness as my accompaniment,
so my bones, which You have broken, will dance in delight instead.

9 Cover Your face so You will not see my sins,
and erase my guilt from the record.

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God;
restore within me a sense of being brand new.

11 Do not throw me far away from Your presence,
and do not remove Your Holy Spirit from me.

12 Give back to me the deep delight of being saved by You;
let Your willing Spirit sustain me.

13 If You do, I promise to teach rebels Your ways
and help sinners find their way back to You.

14 Free me from the guilt of murder, of shedding a man's blood,
O God who saves me.
Now my tongue, which was used to destroy, will be used to sing with deep delight of how right and just You are.

15 O Lord, pry open my lips
that this mouth will sing joyfully of Your greatness.

16 I would surrender my dearest possessions or destroy all that I prize to prove my regret,
but You don't take pleasure in sacrifices or burnt offerings.

17 What sacrifice I can offer You is my broken spirit
because a broken spirit, O God,
a heart that honestly regrets the past,
You won't detest.

18 Be good to Zion; grant her Your favor.
Make Jerusalem's walls steady and strong.

19 Then there will be sacrifices made,
burnt offerings and whole burnt offerings,
With right motives that will delight You.
And costly young bulls will be offered up to Your altar, only the best.

Create in Me a Clean Heart, O God

Psalm 51 Tree of Life Version (TLV)

Create in Me a Clean Heart

Psalm 51

1 For the music director: a psalm of David, 2 when Nathan the prophet came to him, after he went to Bathsheba.
3 Be gracious to me, O God,
according to Your mercy.
According to Your great compassion
blot out my transgressions.
4 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin.
5 For I know my transgressions
and my sin is ever before me.
6 Against You, You only, have I sinned,
and done what is evil in Your sight,
so that You are just when You speak,
and blameless when You judge.
7 Behold, I was born in iniquity and in sin
when my mother conceived me.
8 Surely You desire truth in the inner being.
Make me know wisdom inwardly.
9 Cleanse me with hyssop and I will be clean.
Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
10 Let me hear joy and gladness,
so the bones You crushed may rejoice.
11 Hide Your face from my sins,
and blot out all my iniquities.

12 Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
13 Do not cast me from Your presence—
take not Your Ruach ha-Kodesh from me.
14 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation
and sustain me with a willing spirit.
15 Then will I teach transgressors Your ways
and sinners will return to You.
16 Deliver me from bloodguilt, O God—
    God of my salvation.
Then my tongue will sing for joy of Your righteousness.
17 O Lord, open my lips,
and my mouth will declare Your praise.
18 For You would not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it,
nor be pleased by burnt offerings.
19 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit.
A broken and a contrite heart, O God,
    You will not despise.

20 In Your favor do good to Zion.
Build up the walls of Jerusalem.
21 Then You will delight in righteous sacrifices and whole burnt offerings.
Then bulls will be offered on Your altar.

Matthew 6:7-13 King James Version (KJV)

7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Good night Kiss from Heaven:

I hear His Whisper… "I will restore you."

In My presence I have kept you from being broken down by the weight upon your shoulders. My grace has strengthened you when there no one there to help. It was in My presence that your heart was healed and made whole. So listen, My child, I will restore you yet again.

I have desired to give you days full of heaven on earth. I have longed to bring you joy and peace that cannot be taken from you. But you must come closer to Me in the stillness. Seek Me above all else. Never forget to spend time with Me, and I will restore your soul and bring into your heart and into your family all that you have asked Me for. My delight is in you.

My power is at work in your life. From days to decades I will bring you into the sacred place of communion with Me. My invisible hand has already taken you from dark valleys into bright meadows of light where hope has been restored. The plans I have put in place for your life will all come to pass in My perfect timing and you will glorify Me. What you have called days of difficulty, I have called days of devotion to Me. I have weaned you from "self-confidence" and brought you into the paths of trust and hope in Me. So many times I have brought the light of hope into your night of despair. I promise you, beloved child, even as I have healed you in the past, I will restore your soul, yet again! You will overflow with My grace and make the place where you reside, holy."

Song of Songs 1:8 The Passion Translation
Listen, my radiant one.
If you ever lose sight of me,
Just follow in my footsteps
Where I lead my lovers.
Come with your burdens and cares.
Come to the place near
The sanctuary of my shepherds—
There you will find me.

How Many Times Should I Ask God For Something? ==>>

The answer to this question is that you should ask until you get the answer.

When you believe you have the answer, it would be silly to ask again.

But how should you determine when you get the answer? What evidence will you require to believe you have the answer?

What will God have to do before you will believe He has granted your request? Will God need to send an angel to tell you your request is granted? Will you have to wait until all the circumstances change and everyone sees the answer show up in your life?

Or, will you simply accept God’s Word as sufficient evidence to believe God has granted your request?

Jesus said in Mark 11:24 that we are to believe we receive the answer when we pray. The key to receiving from God is not long praying, but faith. What we believe is what makes the difference.

God gave us the Bible to change what we believe, so we could know His will, pray in agreement with His will, and therefore have confidence that our requests are granted.

MATTHEW 6:7 NKJ

7 “And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.

In Matthew 6:7 Jesus warned against using “vain repetition” in prayer, but this probably means more than just making the same request more than once. It cannot always be wrong to repeat a prayer, because Jesus prayed the same words three times in Matthew 26:44. It depends on what kind of prayer it is.

It is appropriate to repeat some prayers, like those found in Ephesians asking for believers to be filled with the knowledge of God’s will with all understanding. That is not a prayer you can just pray once and believe you receive the full answer immediately.

But when we ask God for some material thing, we should not need to ask more than once. We should believe God granted our request when we prayed. So it is not appropriate to ask God again, but only to thank Him.

What is vain repetition? Something that is useless and makes no difference.

MATTHEW 6:7 ERV

7 “And when you pray, don’t be like the people who don’t know God. They say the same things again and again. They think that if they say it enough, their god will hear them.

Successfully praying to receive things is not a matter of wearing God down with repeated requests until He finally gives in and grants your request.

Jesus taught that what we receive through prayer is a matter of what we believe. Mark 11:24 tells us that when we pray we are to believe we receive our answer when we pray.

If we believe we receive the answer to our prayer, there is no need to continue asking for that request. There is no need to keep asking for something we already have.

We don’t have to believe we are in possession of what we requested, but simply that God has granted our request and the answer is on its way to us.

How many times would you ask a friend to do something for you? Unless you are forgetful or crazy, you would only ask them until they said yes. Once they said they will do something for you, if you trust them, you know they will do it. Continuing to ask them to do something after they already agreed to do it would be rude and disrespectful.

MATTHEW 21:22 NKJ

22 “And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”

The key factor is what you believe. If you don’t believe God heard and answered your prayer, then you need to pray again. But you need to recognize that the fault is not with God, but with you.

Jesus taught that to receive from God we must ask in faith. If we are not prepared to believe we receive the answer when we pray, then we are not ready to pray for that request.

We have no business praying for something we do not believe is God’s will. But if we pray in agreement with God’s will, then we should know we have the answer.

1 JOHN 5:14-15 NKJ

14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

“What then am I to pray about? What do I say tomorrow during my prayer time?”

If you believe you received the answer “yes” from God today in regard to your request, then tomorrow when you talk to God about it, you should say “Thank You!” “Thank You that You are working and the answer is coming. Thank You for answering my prayer. Thank You that things are working out good.”

“But,” you say, “nothing has changed yet!”

If you think that, it shows you are basing your beliefs entirely on the information coming from your circumstances. You are not accepting God’s Word as worthy evidence. You have not believed that God granted your request and the answer is on its way. With this approach, you cannot expect very good results in prayer.

SAY THIS: There is no need to ask for something after it has been granted to you.

John 4:1-45 The Voice (VOICE)

4 The picture was becoming clear to the Pharisees that Jesus had gained a following much larger than that of John the Baptist, the wandering prophet. Now He could see that the Pharisees were beginning to plot against Him. 2 This was because His disciples were busy ritually cleansing many new disciples through baptism,[a] 3 He chose to leave Judea where most Pharisees lived and return to a safer location in Galilee. 4This was a trip that would take them through Samaria.

For Jews in Israel, Samaria is a place to be avoided. Before Solomon's death 1,000 years earlier, the regions of Samaria and Judea were part of a united Israel. After the rebellion that divided the kingdom, Samaria became a hotbed of idol worship. The northern kings made alliances that corrupted the people by introducing foreign customs and strange gods. They even had the nerve to build a temple to the True God on Mt. Gerizim to rival the one in Jerusalem. By the time the twelve are traveling with Jesus, it has long been evident that the Samaritans have lost their way. By marrying outsiders, they have polluted the land. Israel's Jews consider them to be half-breeds – mongrels – and the Jews know to watch out for them or else be bitten by temptation.

5-8 In a small Samaritan town known as Sychar, Jesus and His entourage stopped to rest at the historic well that Jacob gave his son Joseph. It was about noon when Jesus found a spot to sit close to the well while the disciples ventured off to find provisions. From His vantage, He watched as a Samaritan woman approached to draw some water. Unexpectedly He spoke to her.
Jesus: Would you draw water, and give Me a drink?

Woman: 9 I cannot believe that You, a Jew, would associate with me, a Samaritan woman; much less ask me to give You a drink.

Jews, you see, have no dealings with Samaritans.
Also, a man never approaches a woman like this in public. Jesus is breaking accepted social barriers with this confrontation.

Jesus: 10 You don't know the gift of God or who is asking you for a drink of this water from Jacob's well. Because if you did, you would have asked Him for something greater; and He would have given you the living water.

Woman: 11 Sir, You sit by this deep well a thirsty man without a bucket in sight. Where does this living water come from? 12 Are You claiming superiority to our father Jacob who labored long and hard to dig and maintain this well so that he could share clean water with his sons, grandchildren, and cattle?

Jesus: 13 Drink this water, and your thirst is quenched only for a moment. You must return to this well again and again. 14I offer water that will become a wellspring within you that gives life throughout eternity. You will never be thirsty again.

Woman: 15 Please, Sir, give me some of this water, so I'll never be thirsty and never again have to make the trip to this well.

Jesus: 16 Then bring your husband to Me.

Woman: 17-18 I do not have a husband.
Jesus: Technically you are telling the truth. But you have had five husbands and are currently living with a man you are not married to.

Woman: 19 Sir, it is obvious to me that You are a prophet. 20Our fathers worshiped here on this mountain, but Your people say that Jerusalem is the only place for all to worship. Which is it?

Jesus: 21-24 Woman, I tell you that neither is so. Believe this: a new day is coming – in fact, it's already here – when the importance will not be placed on the time and place of worship but on the truthful hearts of worshipers. You worship what you don't know while we worship what we do know, for God's salvation is coming through the Jews. The Father is spirit, and He is seeking followers whose worship is sourced in truth and deeply spiritual as well. Regardless of whether you are in Jerusalem or on this mountain, if you do not seek the Father, then you do not worship.

Woman: 25 These mysteries will be made clear by He who is promised, the Anointed One.

Jesus: 26 The Anointed is speaking to you. I am the One you have been looking for.

27 The disciples returned to Him and gathered around Him in amazement that He would openly break their customs by speaking to this woman, but none of them would ask Him what He was looking for or why He was speaking with her. 28The woman went back to the town, leaving her water pot behind. She stopped men and women on the streets and told them about what had happened.

Woman: 29 I met a stranger who knew everything about me. Come and see for yourselves; can He be the Anointed One?

30 A crowd came out of the city and approached Jesus. 31During all of this, the disciples were urging Jesus to eat the food they gathered.

Jesus: 32 I have food to eat that you know nothing about.

Disciples (to one another): 33 Is it possible someone else has brought Him food while we were away?

Jesus: 34 I receive My nourishment by serving the will of the Father who sent Me and completing His work. 35 You have heard others say, "Be patient; we have four more months to wait until the crops are ready for the harvest." I say, take a closer look and you will see that the fields are ripe and ready for the harvest. 36 The harvester is collecting his pay, harvesting fruit ripe for eternal life. So even now, he and the sower are celebrating their fortune. 37 The saying may be old, but it is true: "One person sows, and another reaps." 38 I sent you to harvest where you have not labored; someone else took the time to plant and cultivate, and you feast on the fruit of their labor.

39 Meanwhile, because one woman shared with her neighbors how Jesus exposed her past and present, the village of Sychar was transformed – many Samaritans heard and believed. 40The Samaritans approached Jesus and repeatedly invited Him to stay with them, so He lingered there for two days on their account. 41 With the words that came from His mouth, there were many more believing Samaritans. 42 They began their faith journey because of the testimony of the woman beside the well; but when they heard for themselves, they were convinced the One they were hearing was and is God's Anointed, the Liberating King, sent to rescue the entire world.

43-45 After two days of teaching and conversation, Jesus proceeded to Galilee where His countrymen received Him with familiar smiles. After all, they witnessed His miracle at the feast in Jerusalem; but Jesus understood and often quoted the maxim: "No one honors a hometown prophet."

Don't Let Your Past Rob You ==>> Philippians 3:13-14

Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Are you living a life of regrets thinking, "If only…"? "If only I had that college education…If only I had married the right girl…If only I had taken up the other job…If only I had not made that stupid mistake…"

Is your past robbing you of the joy of today? Then forget your past!

You might say, "But Pastor Prince, you do not know what I have done in the past!"

Consider Paul. If the devil had anything to bring against Paul, it would be reminders of how he had persecuted the early church and caused the deaths of many, including Stephen, the first Christian martyr.

Paul had done horrendous things that were hard for him to forget. But he had such a revelation of God's awesome forgiveness that he could say, "forgetting those things which are behind…I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus".

Beloved, God has forgiven you of all your sins. He has completely forgiven you and declared, "Your sins and lawless deeds, I will remember no more." (Hebrews 10:17)

Like Paul, you can forget your past, the wrongs you have done and the hurts you have caused others or been through yourself. God can take the tears of yesterday and transform them into the miracles of tomorrow. He can restore to you in all abundance what you have lost. He can cause all things, even the painful events of your past, to work together for your good. (Romans 8:28)

God's Word says, "The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard." (Isaiah 58:8) His glory will cover your past. Wherever you go, His glory covers your past. It is no longer the same past that you know of because His glory has descended on it. Your past is past. It has been wiped out. It is gone! So don't let your past rob you of today's joy any longer!

Proverbs 8 The Voice (VOICE)

8 Isn't Lady Wisdom calling? Listen; don't you hear the voice of understanding crying out? 2 She's taken her stand at the highest place in the city, at the crossroads where everyone can see her. 3 There, and at the gates, at the entrance to the city, right in front of the city doors she cries out:
Lady Wisdom: O people! I am calling to you; I have a message for all humanity. 5 You gullible people, acquire insight. You naive ones, cultivate a heart that truly understands. 6 Listen, for I am about to tell you of unparalleled excellence and beauty; what I am about to say will set things right. 7 I will only speak the truth; I despise evil, so it will not pass through my lips. Everything I say promotes justice; not one word is crooked, and nothing is distorted. 9 Each and every word is straight talk to perceptive people, upright and honest to knowledge-seekers. 10 Accept my correction as being more valuable than your prized possession, authentic knowledge more valuable than pure gold.
11 You see, no gem is more precious than Lady Wisdom- your most extravagant desire doesn't come close to her.
12 Lady Wisdom: I make my home with prudence; I obtain knowledge and sound judgment. 13 If you respect the Eternal, you will grow to despise evil. I despise wretched, vile talk and ways of pride and arrogance. 14 Good counsel is mine, and also true wisdom. I am understanding, and strength belongs to me. 15 It's because of me that kings wield power and authorities decree what is right. 16 It's because of me that leaders and their agents govern and all judge according to what is right. 17 I love those who love me; those who search hard for me will find me. 18 Riches and honor are the benefit of following me; so are lasting wealth and justice. 19 My reward is better than gold, even the purest gold; and my profit is greater than the highest quality silver. 20 I follow the way of right living. Follow me along the path to find justice; 21 I'm ready to meet those who love me, bestow true riches upon them, and fill up their lives until their treasuries overflow. 22 The Eternal created me; it happened when His work was beginning, one of His first acts long ago. 23 Before time He established me, before the earth saw its first sunrise. 24 I was born before the deep existed, before any springs poured out their water, 25 Before the mountains were placed on their foundations, before the hills rolled across the land- yes, before all this, I was brought forth. 26When the earth was yet unformed and the fields were not yet nestled beneath the wind- even before the first dust of the earth- 27 When He created the heavens, I was there. When He drew a circle in the deep, dividing the oceans and the sky, I was there. 28 I was there when He established the sky. I was there when the springs in the deep were fortified; 29 I witnessed Him lay down the shore as a boundary and put limits on the water And determine the foundations of the earth. 30 All this time I was close beside Him, a master craftsman. Every day I was His delightful companion, celebrating every minute in His presence, 31 Elated by the world He was making and all its fine creatures; I was especially pleased with humanity.
32 So now listen to me, my children: those who live by my ways will find true happiness. 33 Pay attention to my guidance, dare to be wise, and don't disregard my teachings. 34 The one who listens to me, who carefully seeks me in everyday things and delays action until my way is apparent, that one will find true happiness. 35 For when he recognizes and follows me, he finds a peaceful and satisfying life and receives favor from the Eternal. 36 But heed my warning: the one who goes against me will only hurt himself, for all who despise me are playing with fire and courting death.
